FNSBKG404A Carry Out Business Activity & Instalment Activity Statement Tasks

FNSBKG405A Establish & Maintain a Payroll System

For an individual to become registered as a BAS Agent, they must meet certain education requirements (as well as having certain levels of experience).  The Qualification requirements can be met in a variety of ways.

These BAS Agent requirements are:

  1. awarded at least either a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) or a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting) from an RTO (or equivalent); and

  2. successfully completed a course in basic GST/BAS taxation principles that is approved by the Board.

Broadly, to be eligible to apply for a standard application, you will need to meet both requirements 1 and 2 above.

Applicants who have been awarded either of the Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) or (Accounting) and who have already successfully completed the above units, will not be required to complete a separate course in basic GST / BAS taxation principles that is approved by the Board.

For those who have completed a course at a higher level that a Cert IV, such as a Diploma or Degree, but have not completed an equivalent basic GST / BAS taxation principles course as part of the higher level course, the BAS Agent Registration Skill Set has been developed to allow you to complete a course in GST / BAS.
